Dr. Vladimir Tsukruk
Vladimir V. Tsukruk is a Regents Professor and Dean’s Professor of Engineering, and Director of
Microanalysis Center at the School of Materials Science and Engineering, Georgia Institute of Technology,
Atlanta, USA. He received MS degree in physics from the National University of Ukraine, PhD and DSc degrees
in polymer science from the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. He carried out his post-doctoral
research at the U. Marburg, Darmstadt TU and U. Akron. He serves on the Editorial Advisory Boards of six
professional journals and as an Associate Editor at ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces. He has
co-authored more than 470 refereed articles in archival journals and five books, which have been cited
about 21,000 times to date. He has organized ten professional symposia and has trained about 90 graduate
students/post-docs. His research in the field of nanomaterials morphology, surfaces and interfaces,
directed assembly of synthetic/natural polymers and nanostructures, biomimetic designs, and bioinspired
hybrid nanomaterials has been recognized by his election as a Fellow of American Physical Society,
Materials Research Society, and American Chemical Society.
Dr. Jang-Kyo Kim,
Prof. Kim graduated with B.Eng. in Aeronautical Engineering from Seoul National University; M.Eng.Sci. in
Materials Engineering from Monash University; and PhD in composite materials from Department of Mechanical
Engineering, University of Sydney. He was an ARC Postdoctoral Research Fellow (1992-1993), then started his
faculty career at Australian National University (1993-1994) before joining the Hong Kong University of
Science and Technology (HKUST) in 1994. Prof. Kim had visiting appointments with University of Tokyo and
Nanyang Technological University on a Tan Chin Tuan Exchange Fellowship (1998); and has been a Visiting
Professor at Center for Advanced Materials Technology, University of Sydney since 2012. He is currently a
Chair Professor at HKUST and directs the Finetex-HKUST R & D Center and the Advanced Engineering Materials
Facilities. He served as Associate Dean of Engineering (2007-2011).
Prof. Kim’s research is focused on advanced materials, ranging from fiber-reinforced composites to
nanocomposites with graphene, carbon nanotubes, nanoclay and 2D materials, and to nanostructured materials
for various energy storage applications. He has written well over 350 refereed journal papers, 12 book
chapters, 15 books including three authored research monographs, and holds 8 patents. His research team has
been honored with 12 Best Paper Awards from international conferences and competitions. Currently, Prof.
Kim holds editorial positions in 12 leading journals in addition to as Editor (Composites Part A) and
Associate Editor (Aerospace Science and Technology). He served as the President of the Asian-Australasian
Association of Composites Materials (AACM) (2008-2010); and is elected fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of
Engineering Sciences (HKAES), the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS), the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC)
and the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE). He has been named a Highly Cited Researcher 2018 in
Dr. Vladislav Sadykov
Vladislav Sadykov is the head of laboratory at the Boreskov Institute of Catalysis of Siberian Branch of
the Academy of Sciences of Russia (Novosibirsk) and Professor of Novosibirsk State University, where he
directs laboratory of New Technologies of Synthesis of Functional Nanomaterials (joint unit of the Physical
Department of Novosibirsk State University, Boreskov Institute of Catalysis and Budker Institute of Nuclear
Physics). He has joined Boreskov Institute of Catalysis after graduating Novosibirsk State University in
1973. His current research interest includes heterogeneous catalysis of red-ox processes for the energy
production (including solid oxide fuel cells), catalytic processes of hydrogen and syngas generation at
short contact times on structured catalysts, membrane reactors, advanced technologies of nanophase and
nanocomposite materials synthesis, kinetics and mechanism of red-ox reactions with a due regard for the
oxygen mobility and reactivity in oxide catalysts characterized by chemical and isotope transients. He has
published more than 450 papers in peer-reviewed journals, four monographs and six Chapters in books and
holds 30 patents. He is co-editor of "Catalysis for Sustainable Energy" (de Gruyter Open) journal, a member
of the Editorial Boards of Applied Catalysis A; Physics of Combustion and Flame (Journal of the Russian
Academy of Sciences). He received Award of the Russian Federation Government in Science and Technology in

Barcelona is located on the Mediterranean coast of northeastern in Spain, which is
Spain's second largest city and largest industrial center. With a population of about 1.75 million,
Barcelona city has a major economic position in Spain. Here is the typical Mediterranean climate mild and
pleasant, flowers in bloom and sunshine all year round, it is known as the pearl of the Iberian Peninsula
and one of the most famous tourist attractions. It is the cultural ancient city of Spain, known as
Manhattan in the Mediterranean Sea. The gothic style of old buildings and tall buildings complement each
other to form Barcelona's mesmerizing skyline.
