Block 6: Nanotech for Energy and Environment | ||
In 21st century, the Energy Shortage problem we are facing now is getting worse. Energy crisis limits our development and is unable to be solved in a short time. Therefore, energy saving, new energy storage and development become a trend, and nanotechnology is providing possibility for its realization. As a new technology, the development of nanotechnology needs good operation space. With heavy investment, rapid development, low entry requirement and low reform cost, the field of new energy is very suitable for the introduction and development of nanotechnology. The application of nanotechnology in solar cells should be the most promising part, which improves the performance of solar cells. However, in the field of wind energy, its application is still in the laboratory but with very broad prospects. In addition, nanotechnology is also applied in many other new energies which have a great value, too, such as hydrogen storage cell. Radiation, absorption, sterilization and sorption, as the common characteristics that all nanomaterials have, are indicated by many researches that they will have a profound effect on the field of environment protection. |
