Introduction to Nano S&T-2016

The 6th Annual World Congress of Nano Science and Technology-2016 (Nano S&T-2016) will be held in Singapore during October 26-28, 2016. It covers all frontier topics in advanced nanomaterials, nanoelectronics, applications of nanotechnology, nanomedicine and biomaterials, etc. The aim of the conference is to bring together leading scientists, researchers, engineers, practitioners, technology developers and policy makers from multidisciplinary research and application areas to exchange information on their latest research progress and innovation, to discuss the benefits of Nanotechnology and materials science in their research and development efforts to advance the networking, and collaborating between different academia, research and market leaders in the field. Bill Milne FREng. FIET, FIMMM was Head of Electrical Engineering at Cambridge University from 1999 -2014 and is now an Emeritus Professor. He is presently a Distinguished Visiting Professor at Tokyo Institute of Technology and a 1000 Talents Chair at Zhejiang University in China. He obtained his B.Sc. from St Andrews University in Scotland in 1970 and then went on to read for a Ph.D. in Electronic Materials at Imperial College London. He was awarded his Ph.D. and DIC in 1973 and, in 2003, a D.Eng (Honoris Causa) from University of Waterloo, Canada. He was elected a Fellow of The Royal Academy of Engineering in 2006 and awarded the J.J. Thomson medal from the IET in 2008 and the NANOSMAT prize in 2010 for excellence in nanotechnology. His research interests include large area Si and carbon based electronics, graphene, carbon nanotubes and thin film materials. Most recently he has been investigating MEMS, SAW and FBAR devices and SOI based micro heaters for (bio) sensing applications. He has published/presented ~ 800 papers in these areas, of which ~ 200 were invited. He has an "h" index of 60 according to Web of Science.

Professor Falko is one of the UK's leading condensed matter theorists, who has made substantial contributions towards the understanding of electronic and optical properties of graphene, including the discovery of bilayer graphene. He has played a pivotal role in shaping the European research community in graphene and other two-dimensional materials, establishing the 'Graphene Week' conference series and leading the European Graphene Flagship work package: 'Fundamental Science of Graphene and 2D Materials Beyond Graphene'. He is also Co-Director for the Graphene NOWNANO Centre for Doctoral Training programme, based at The University of Manchester.

Professor Dr. Mohini Sain, Hon. Doctorate, Ph.D., P.Eng, Dr.hc., FRSC (UK), FCAE. Currently Dean of Faculty of Forestry at University of Toronto, Dr. Sain is a fellow of Royal Society of Chemistry, UK and Fellow of Academy of Canadian Engineers. Professor Sain is globally known for his pioneering work on Biocar Initiative and in 2009 issue of Toronto Life magazine featured his idea as the second best among 25 World Changing Ideas from the Smartest Torontonians . Dr. Sain holds several awards; few recent ones are Plastic Innovation Award and KALEV PUGI Award for his innovation and contribution to Industry. Author of more than 500 papers and is designated as a "hi-cited" researcher, Professor Sain hugely contributed to the society at large by translating research to commercialization. Professor Sain's role as a pioneer in creating non-profit organizations that are highly meaningful for society at large. He is the founding member of Canadian natural Composite Association, Ontario BioAuto Council and many more. He has championed world’s WPC industry by actively perusing his vision of global important of this green and emerging industry. He chaired many of these global committees and helped nurturing this industry to over billion dollar market.

Pr. Raynald Gauvin received his Ph.D. in 1990 at École Polytechnique de Montréal in Metallurgical Engineering. He was then appointed as an assistant professor in Mechanical Engineering at Université de Sherbrooke where he became associate Professor in 1995 and full Professor in 1998. In 2001, he joined the department of Mining and Materials Engineering of McGill University, Montréal, Canada, as a full Professor. Pr. Gauvin's research interest are related in developing new methods to characterize the microstructure of materials using high resolution scanning electron microscopy with x-ray microanalysis and Monte Carlo simulations. He is the creator of the CASINO program that is used by more than 10000 users in the world. He has more than 300 papers in scientific journals and conference proceedings. He was Invited Speaker in more than 100 international scientific conferences. He won several scientific prices, most notably the 31st Canadian Materials Physics Medal in 2007 by the Metallurgical Society of the Canadian Institute of Mining, the Heinrich Award in 1997 from the Microbeam Analysis Society of America and the Prix d'excellence du président de l'École for the best Doctorate Thesis defended in 1990 at École Polytechnique de Montréal. Pr. Gauvin was the President of the Inter American Societies of Electron Microscopy (CIASEM) from 2009 to 2011, the President of the Microbeam Analysis Society of America (MAS) from 2005 to 2006, the President of the Microscopical Society of Canada (SMC) from 2001 to 2003 and the President of the International Union of the Microbeam Analysis Societies (IUMAS) from 2000 to 2005.

Dr. Huang is an expert in Graphene and graphene commercialization in heat spreading, battery& supercapacitor, composites and other graphene applications. He had 20+ years working at IBM, was a Vice President, played a key role to help IBM successfully transformed into a global service company, in charge of e-commerce implementation, intellectual capital and asset Management, solution offerings, etc. He is an experienced business transformation and implementation consultant. Dr. Huang's career included the President of National Taiwan Normal University; visiting faculty of several universities in Singapore, US and Taiwan; National Institute of Health, US, etc. He is also an experienced entrepreneur in Silicon Valley. Currently, he is the Chairman/CEO of AzTrong (Graphene & Applications), Senior Advisor to Ditthavong & Steiner patent law firm, Ditthavong & Steiner, Chairman of Taskco e-Business Corporation. Dr. Huang won several awards, including IBM Corporate Excellence Award, Gold Medal of Giga Information Award, LAUNCH Award -- Top 10 Energy Innovators by US Department of State, NASA, USAID and NIKE. He graduated in mathematics from National Taiwan Normal University, University of Illinois, and electrical engineering and computer science from MIT.

Past Event Report

On September 24-26, 2015, BIT’s 5th Annual World Congress of Nano Science & Techonology-2015 was held in Qujiang International Conference Center, Xi’an, China. Almost 300 participants from over 33 countries and regions shared the details of their research during the sessions. It was sure to announce it gained a great success and obtained highly focus and extensive attention around the globe. We appreciate the contribution of all the speakers, who have conveyed their latest results in the conference.
