Introduction to Nano S&T-2015
The 5th Annual World Congress of Nano Science and Technology-2015 (Nano S&T-2015) with the Theme of “Small Size, Big World” will be held in Xi’an, China during September 24-26, 2015. Dr. Ekhard K. H. Salje is Professor at the University of Cambridge and the Jioatong University in Xi'an. He Academician in the UK (Fellow of the Royal Society), Germany (Fellow of the Leopoldina), and Spain (Academy Royal in Barcelona). He was Head of Earth Sciences in Cambridge, Co-Director of the Cambridge–MIT institute and Co-Director of the National Centre for Superconductivity in the UK. He served as Master of a Cambridge College (Clare Hall), and is advisor to several institutions (UK parliament, Wissenschftsrat, Alexander-von Humboldt Foundation etc). He has received numerous prizes including the Schlumberger medal of the Mineralogical Society, Humboldt Research Prize, Ernst Ising prize for Physics, Gold medal of the University of Hamburg, Chevalier dans l'ordre des Palmes Academiques, Agricola medal for Applied Mineralogy, Cross of the Order of Merit, first class (Germany).

Albert Chin received Ph.D. from University of Michigan and B.S. from National Tsing Hua University. He was with AT&T Bell Labs (89~90), General Electric E-Lab (90~92), Texas Instruments SPDC (96~97), and visiting Professor at National University of Singapore (02~06). He has been a distinguished professor, vice executive officer of diamond project, and deputy director of National Chiao Tung University. He is a pioneer of low DC-power high-κ CMOS & Steep Turn-On CMOS, planar high-κ Flash memory, high mobility Ge-On-Insulator (GeOI) CMOS, low AC-power 3D IC, high RF-power asymmetric-MOSFET, Si fs/THz devices, and resonant-cavity photo-detector. He co-authored >450 papers and 7 “Highly Cited Papers” (top 1% citation). His high-κ CMOS, GeOI, Flash memory, and RF devices were also cited by International Technology Roadmap for Semiconductors. Dr. Chin served as the Subcommittee Chair and Asian Arrangements Co-Chair/Chair of IEDM Executive Committee. He is an IEEE Fellow, Optical Society of America Fellow, and Asia Pacific Academy of Materials Academician. He currently serves as Editor of IEEE Electron Device Letters, IEEE EDS Distinguished Lecturer, Region 10 SRC Vice Chairs, and IEEE EDS Technical Committee Chair on Electronic Materials.

David E. Reisner is a well-known early pioneer and entrepreneur in the burgeoning field of nanotechnology, having cofounded in 1996 two nanotech companies, Inframat® and US Nanocorp®.  For nearly 18 years, he is CEO of both companies, since founding, which were recognized for their fast revenue growth by Deloitte & Touche.  Reisner served a 3-year term as a Technology Pioneer for the World Economic Forum & was a panelist at the 2004 Annual Meeting in Davos.  Reisner was featured in 2004 Forbes magazine.  He has over 175 publs. & is an inventor on 10 issued patents.  He is the Editor of the CRC Press monographs Bionanotechnology (2008), Bionanotechnology II (2011),and Aquananotechnology: Global Prospects (2014).He has written articles on the business of nanotechnology in the Chinese publication Science & Culture Review.  David is a 1978 University Honors graduate from Wesleyan Univ. and received his Ph.D. from MIT in 1983 in the field of chemical physics. He is also a member of Connecticut Academy of Sci. & Technology

Lih J. Chen received his Ph.D. in Physics from University of California, Berkeley. He is currently Distinguished Chair Professor at National Tsing Hua University (NTHU) in Taiwan. Among the positions he had held include President, Dean of College of Engineering, Chairman of the MSE Department of the NTHU, Deputy Minister, National Science Council, Vice Chancellor for Research and Development, University System of Taiwan. He has received many prestigious awards such as Member, Russian International Academy of Engineering (2013), Fellow, Materials Research Society (MRS) (2011), The Electrochemical Society (ECS) Electronics and Photonics Division (EPD) Award (2010), Member, The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) (2009), The Mineral, Metallurgy and Materials Society (TMS) 2008 William Hume-Rothery Award (2008), Member, Academia Sinica (2006), Fellow, American Vacuum Society (2001) and Member, Asia-Pacific Academy of Ad-vanced Materials (1998). His areas of research interest include synthesis and applications of low-dimensional nanomaterials, atomic scale structures and dynamic processes of advanced materials, metallization in integrated circuits devices. He has published more than 490 papers in SCI journals, 20 patents, two books, two monographs, edited one book and 6 conference proceedings.

Conference Report of Nano S&T-2015
    
On September 24-26, 2015, BIT’s 5th Annual World Congress of Nano Science & Techonology-2015 was held in Qujiang International Conference Center, Xi’an, China. Almost 300 participants from over 33 countries and regions shared the details of their research during the sessions. It was sure to announce it gained a great success and obtained highly focus and extensive attention around the globe. We appreciate the contribution of all the speakers, who have conveyed their latest results in the conference.

As the keynote speakers, Dr. Ekhard K. H. Salje, Professor, Cambridge University, UK; Xi’an Jiaotong University, China; Dr. Lih J. Chen, Distinguished Chair Professor, Department of Materials Science and Engineering, National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan; Dr. Albert Chin, Professor, National Chiao Tung University, Taiwan; Dr. David Reisner, CEO & President, Inframat®Corp. have given excellent presentations and warmly discussed with the audiences.

Nano S&T-2015 included 26 sessions. Participants involved in advanced nanomaterials, nanoelectronics, applications of nanotechnology, nanomedicine and biomaterials, etc. all shared their new achievements in the research with the others.
