|Dr. Claus Crone Fuglsang
As the Vice President for BioEnergy, Claus Fuglsang is leading Novozymes research in these areas and he oversees a portfolio of projects with more than 150 employees. As such, Claus has played a big part in the development of the first commercial cellulosic ethanol enzymes, Novozymes’ Cellic® CTec range as well as novel products in the existing grain based ethanol industry.
|Dr. Mark A. Emalfarb
Mark A. Emalfarb is the founder of Dyadic. He has been a member of Dyadic’s board of directors since October 2004 and has served as its Chairman as well as President and Chief Executive Officer of Dyadic from October 2004 until April 2007 and from June 2008 until the present. Since founding the predecessor to Dyadic in 1979, Mr. Emalfarb has successfully led and managed the evolution of Dyadic from its origins as a pioneer and leader in providing ingredients used in the stone-washing of blue jeans to the discovery, development, manufacturing and commercialization of specialty enzymes used in various industrial applications and the development of an integrated technology platform based on Dyadic’s patented and proprietary C1 fungal microorganism. Mr. Emalfarb is an inventor of over 25 U.S. and foreign biotechnology patents and patent applications resulting from discoveries related to the Company’s patented and proprietary C1 fungus, and has been the architect behind its formation of several strategic research and development, manufacturing and marketing relationships with U.S. and international partners. Mr. Emalfarb earned his B.A. degree from the University of Iowa in 1977.
|Dr. Xiucai Liu
Dr. Xiucai Liu is the chairman of Cathay Industrial Biotech, Ltd. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Science and Technology of China and went abroad in the 1980s to obtain his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Wisconsin in the United States, followed by postdoctoral research at Yale and Columbia and then a position as a senior scientist at the Sandoz Research Institute. In 1997 he founded Cathay Industrial Biotech, which developed bioprocess long chain diacids to take over half the world chemical market for that product and achieved large scale commercialization of second generation biobutanol technology. Recently he has led the development of commercial scale technology to produce biobased diamine, launching the world’s first comprehensive biobased polyamide series. Dr. Liu served as the first chairman of the Sino American Pharmaceutical Association, the largest professional organization for overseas Chinese; won the 10 Cutting Edge “Sea Turtle” Returnee Entrepreneurs Award and the Elite Returnee Entrepreneur Award; he was also selected by Biofuels Digest as one of “The Top 100 People in Bioenergy, 2011-2012.”
