Event Report

BIT’s 2nd Annual World Congress of Food Science & Technology-2013, successfully held in Hangzhou, China during September 23-25, 2013. The theme of this conference is “Emerging Science, Technologies and Applications in Food Industry”. Totally, there were nearly 150 participants from more than 30 countries and areas have attended the Food S & T-2013. With the support of Information Research Center of International Talents, SAFEA and China Medicinal Biotech Association, Foreign Experts Databank of SAFEA-Dalian Branch, it has achieved a great breakthrough in the area of Food Science & Technology.

Five keynote speakers have made the wonderful presentations and great contribution at the opening ceremony including: Mr. Knuth Lorenzen, President, EHEDG (European Hygienic Engineering & Design Group), Germany; Dr. Charles L. Wilson, President & CEO, Wilson Associates International LLC, USA; Dr. David W. Everett, President, New Zealand Institute of Food Science and Technology, New Zealand; Dr. Kumar Bala, Head of Global Marketing, MP Biomedicals, USA; Dr. Dmitry Edelev, Professor & President, Moscow National University of Food Production, Russia

There were 18 Tracks and 2 workshops following the ceremony covering many fields including: Food Technology and Biotechnology, Food Inspection and Analysis, Nutraceuticals and Human Health, Innovative Food Processing Technologies and Devices, Food Safety, Food Preservation Technologies, Quality Standard and Food Systems Management.This annual conference provided a splendid platform for domestic researchers to communicate with international experts. It promoted international exchanges and enhanced scientific development in Food Sciences & Technology and pushed forward the development of relevant scientific fields worldwide.
